Laherte Frères "Nature de Craie" Premier Cru Champagne

Laherte's "Nature de Craie" Premier Cru Champagne is crafted with a commitment to showcasing the natural character of its terroir and the intuition of its winemakers. It is produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes, handpicked at full maturity from the prestigious Côte des Blancs region, specifically the Vertus and Voipreux terroirs. These areas are known for their chalk-rich lower slopes which contribute to the distinct minerality and purity of the wine. The vines, planted in 1960, 1965, and 1987, are tended using ecological practices that respect nature.

The vinification process is meticulous: grapes are manually harvested, pressed traditionally, and the best juices are selected and transferred into barrels by gravity. The wine undergoes both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in barrels, with occasional batonnage to enhance complexity. It ages on fine lees and is vinified without the addition of sulfur to preserve its authentic expression. This non-dosage champagne is disgorged by hand, ensuring a pure, unaltered finish. The result is a true reflection of both its heritage and innovative winemaking practices.
